The Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Eastern Canada was held at New City Church, Hamilton.
In attendance were 21 teaching elders, 15 ruling elders, and 8 candidates.
The Moderator called the meeting to order at 10:01 AM, and the Presbytery worshipped together with the Moderator presiding.
Actions of the Presbytery*
– In the communications report, the Stated Clerk reported receiving notice of the following resignation: TE Kiernan Stringer, Grace Toronto Church.
– The Presbytery approved a letter calling TE Kiernan Stringer to serve as Pastor of Grace West Mission Church.
– The Presbytery approved a motion, from TE Kyle Hackmann, that the Canada West Presbytery and Eastern Canada Presbytery hold their meetings concurrently on October 3-5, 2024 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
– The Presbytery sustained Rev. John Lee’s examination, transferring his credentials from the Presbyterian Church in Korea to the Eastern Canada Presbytery.
– The Presbytery sustained Mr. Philip Tadros’s examination for ordination as Assistant Pastor of church planting at New City Church, Hamilton.
– The Presbytery sustained Mr. Sherman Wong’s examination, licensing him to preach the gospel within the bounds of the Presbytery.
– The Presbytery directed the Candidates and Credentials Committee (Maritimes) to examine Rev. Gillis Smith and bring back a report on his suitability for licensure to the October stated meeting.
– For Sovereign Grace Church, River Denys, the Presbytery directed the interim session to form a plan, with the help of the Shepherding Committee, to raise up ruling elders and to either find a licensed supply or call a Teaching Elder for the congregation.
– The next stated meeting of Presbytery was set for Friday, October 27, 2023, at Bedford Presbyterian Church.
